East Maui is a place of great beauty and very few tourists. Residents who choose the small Maui communities of Kailua, Keanae, Nahiku and Hana often find a simpler way of life, enjoying the peace and quiet so easily found here. Although the Road to Hana is a major tourist attraction, there is hardly any congestion. In fact, the area is pretty isolated. As a result, the local communities usually welcome passing visitors, who often support small businesses such as local eateries, fruit stands and boutique shops.
